MCS Accredited Cadet Training Programmes Duration
• Deck (Navigating) Cadet +/- 3 Years
• Engeneering Cadet +/- 3.8 Years
(including 1 year practical workshop training)
• MCS Minimum Seatime Requirements:
(Completion of an On Board Training
Record Book accredited by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA)		 15 Months
• Preparation for Oral examination for Officer of the Watch  

COLLEGE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
DECK & MARINE ENGINEER STUDENTS
For enrolment on maritime studies diploma courses at a University of Technology at either Cape Town or Durban
• Grade 12 school leaving certificate with minimum of “D” symbol on standard grade in Mathematics, Science and English
• Eyesight test (passed by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) (deck cadets))
• International medical certificate
• Foreign students must pass an internationally recognised English test
