MCS Accredited Cadet Training Programmes Duration
• Deck Ratings +/- 15 – 24 months
• Engine Ratings +/- 15 - 24 months
• Catering Ratings +/- 15 – 24 months
• MCS Minimum Seatime Requirements:
Full completion of an accredited On Board Training Record Book		 15 Months

Minimum Entry Requirements
Deck Hand, Engine Hand, Catering Hand:
• Recent School Leaving Certificate with a good pass in English
• Fitness to international seafarer medical standards
• Eyesight test for seafarers - Deck Ratings
   
A Guide to Ratings Career Paths:
Based on competence demonstrated, merit and achievement and successful completion of the accredited On Board Training Record Book and required STCW shore based theoretical and practical courses as either Able Seaman, Oiler or Cook, trainees can develop as follows:
